When the nobles heard of this, they all came to him to visit him and receive his blessing; they found him in great suffering.

  4. bohairic.life.isaac03:102

ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲉϥⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲙⲟⲛⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲉϣⲓⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲡⲉϥϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ϣⲁⲧⲉⲡϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϫⲉⲙⲡⲉϥϣⲓⲛⲓ . ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲙⲧⲟⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛϫⲉⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲧⲁⲓⲏⲟⲩⲧ ⲛⲁⲩϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϧⲁⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲛϫⲉϩⲁⲛⲙⲏϣ ⲛϩⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲉⲧⲉϩⲁⲛⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲉ ⲛⲉⲙϩⲁⲛⲕⲗⲏⲣⲓⲕⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙϩⲁⲛⲙⲟⲛⲁⲭⲟⲥ .

When his spiritual brothers who were in the desert of Scete heard of it, they came to him, they cared for him until the Lord visited him. And when the holy and glorious archbishop was about to rest, it happened that crowds of blessed saints, bishops, clerics, monks, were sitting near him.

  5. bohairic.life.isaac02:102

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲧⲁⲙⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧϥ ⲁϥⲭⲁϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ .

When the archbishop arrived in Alexandria, he fell asleep, and his body was placed in the church of St. Mark, which he had built, and he told them to bring Isaac in his place, as he had been told to do by the Lord.

  8. bohairic.life.isaac03:103

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲁϥϯ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲛⲉⲛϫⲓϫ ⲙⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲓⲁⲣⲕⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲟⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛϩⲟⲙⲟⲗⲟⲅⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲛⲥⲟⲩⲑ ⲛⲁⲑⲱⲣ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲛⲉⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲭⲱ ⲛⲛⲉϥϫⲓϫ ⲉϫⲉⲛⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ ⲛϫⲉⲁⲃⲃⲁ ⲓⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲡⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲣⲉⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ⲙⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲙⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲛⲓⲱⲥⲏⲫ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲭⲱ ⲛⲛⲉϥϫⲓϫ ⲉϫⲉⲛⲛⲉⲛⲃⲁⲗ ⲛⲓⲁⲕⲱⲃ ⲡⲉϥⲉⲓⲱⲧ .

And so he gave up his soul into the hands of God, the faithful and confessor archbishop, on the ninth day of Athor. And Abba John, Bishop of Terenuti, his spiritual brother, was worthy to place his hands on the eyes (of the saint), as Joseph had placed his hands on the eyes of his father Jacob.

  9. bohairic.life.isaac01:103

ⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲁⲡⲓⲁⲃⲟⲧ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲁⲧⲉⲛⲛⲉϥⲓⲟϯ ⲛⲁⲩⲉⲣϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲁϥ ⲡⲉ ⲙⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲉⲓⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ .

And a month after he had presented himself at his parents' house, they allowed him what he desired.

  10. bohairic.life.isaac03:104

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲕⲟⲥϥ ϧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲟⲩⲧⲁⲓⲟ ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲡⲓⲉϫⲱⲣϩ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲉⲩϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲩⲉⲣⲯⲁⲗⲗⲉⲓⲛ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲕⲱϯ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲓⲕⲗⲏⲣⲓⲕⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ .

He was buried in all glory and honor; the bishops and all the clerics spent the whole night singing psalms around him.

  11. bohairic.life.isaac01:104

ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲛⲁϥⲉⲣⲯⲁⲗⲗⲉⲓⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲓⲡⲣⲟⲫⲏⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉϧⲉⲛⲡⲁⲛⲟⲩϯ ϯⲛⲁⲟⲩⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟⲃⲧ

    Then he sang with the prophet and said, ‘In the name of my God I will cross the fortification wall’;

  12. bohairic.life.isaac02:104

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲇⲓⲁⲕⲱⲛ ϫⲉⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲉⲓⲛ ⲉϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲫⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲙⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲓⲟⲩⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲟⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲧϥ

Now there was a deacon named Georgios who desired the priesthood against the will of the God who makes kings kings through him.

  13. bohairic.life.isaac01:105

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ϫⲉⲡⲓⲫⲁϣ ⲁϥϧⲟⲙϧⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲟⲛ ϫⲉⲧⲉⲕⲟⲩⲓⲛⲁⲙ ⲛϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲁⲥⲓⲣⲓⲛⲟⲩϫⲟⲙ .

and also this: ‘the trap has been broken’; and also, ‘Thy right hand, O Lord, hath done wonders.’

  14. bohairic.life.isaac03:105

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϣⲱⲣⲡ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲁⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲑⲱⲟⲩϯ ⲁⲩⲓⲛⲓ ⲉϩⲣⲏⲓ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲓϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲁⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ϭⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲓⲥⲛⲟϥ ⲛⲧⲉⲡϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ .

When morning appeared, a great crowd gathered, they celebrated for him the holy service; all the people received the body and blood of God.

  15. bohairic.life.isaac02:105

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲑⲉⲧⲡϩⲏⲧ ⲛⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϯⲙⲁϯ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲑⲣⲟⲩϯ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲥⲁⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲁϥϭⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲟϩⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲉϥⲙⲉⲧⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ

He persuaded the hearts of the bishops, who then assembled to give him the episcopate, and immediately he received a reprimand for his impiety.

  16. bohairic.life.isaac01:106

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲓ ⲉϣⲓⲏⲧ ⲡⲓⲧⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛⲧⲉⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛⲁϥϫⲱ ⲙⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲙⲡⲓⲑⲉⲟⲗⲟⲅⲟⲥ ϫⲉⲙⲟⲓ ⲛⲏⲓ ⲙⲡϣⲁϥⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ

And when he arrived at Skete, the holy mountain of God, he repeated the words of the Theologian: ‘Give me the wilderness with Christ.’

  17. bohairic.life.isaac03:106

ⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲁⲩⲭⲱ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ ϧⲁⲧⲉⲛⲡⲉϥϣⲫⲏⲣ ⲙⲡⲁⲧⲣⲓⲁⲣⲭⲏⲥ ⲁⲃⲃⲁ ⲓⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲧⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲓϩⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲁⲣⲕⲟⲥ .

Then his body was laid near (that of) his colleague, the patriarch John, in the church of St. Mark.

  18. bohairic.life.isaac02:106

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲁⲓϥ ⲙⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲩⲧⲉⲣⲟⲥ ⲁⲩϯ ϩⲓⲱⲧϥ ⲛϯⲥⲟⲗⲏ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲛⲁⲓϥ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ϧⲉⲛⲧⲙⲏϯ ⲛϯϩⲉⲃⲇⲟⲙⲁⲥ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲑⲁⲙⲓⲟ ⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛⲓⲕⲁⲛⲱⲛ .

When they had made him priest, they clothed him with the stole, thinking to make him archbishop in the middle of the week, wishing to act against the cannon.

  19. bohairic.life.isaac03:107

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ ϧⲁⲧⲟⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛⲡⲓⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲡⲉϥⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲇⲉ ϧⲁⲧⲉⲛⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ϧⲉⲛⲛⲓⲫⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⲉϥⲉⲣⲡⲣⲉⲥⲃⲉⲩⲓⲛ ⲉϫⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁϩϯ ϫⲉⲛⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲁϫⲱϥ ⲛⲓⲡⲁⲧⲣⲓⲁⲣⲭⲏⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲓⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ .

And his body is near us on earth, and his spirit near God in heaven watching over us. And we believe that all the saints went to meet him, patriarchs and prophets, apostles and all saints.

  20. bohairic.life.isaac02:107

ⲥⲁⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲁϥⲱϣ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲓⲁⲣⲭⲓⲇⲓⲁⲕⲱⲛ ⲉϫⲉⲛⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ϩⲱⲥ ϫⲉⲁⲩⲕⲓⲙ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ϫⲉⲛⲛⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲑⲣⲉⲛⲓⲣⲓ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲛⲓⲕⲁⲛⲱⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁⲣⲉⲛⲟϩⲓ ϣⲁϯⲕⲩⲣⲓⲁⲕⲏ .

Immediately the archdeacon at the altar cried out, as if he had been moved by God, and said: “God forbid that we should thus work against the canons; but let us wait until Sunday.”

  21. bohairic.life.isaac01:107

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲙⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲁϥⲣⲁϣⲓ ⲉⲙⲁϣⲱ .

And when his spiritual father saw him again, he rejoiced greatly.

  22. bohairic.life.isaac02:108

ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲡϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϣⲁϣⲧϥ ⲉϣⲧⲉⲙⲉⲣⲟⲩⲏⲃ ϣⲁⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲥϧⲏⲟⲩⲧ ϫⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲥⲛⲟϥ ϩⲓⲭⲣⲟϥ ⲡϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϭⲓⲃⲟϯ ⲙⲙⲟϥ .

Thus the Lord prevented him from being made pontiff for eternity, for it is written: “The man of flesh and blood the Lord hates.”

  23. bohairic.life.isaac01:108

ⲗⲟⲓⲡⲟⲛ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲁⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲙⲡⲓϧⲉⲗⲗⲟ ⲁⲃⲃⲁ ⲍⲁⲭⲁⲣⲓⲁⲥ ⲉϥϯ ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ϧⲉⲛⲛⲉϥϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲙⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲛⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩ ⲉϥϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲩⲥⲏⲥ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲡⲟⲗⲓⲧⲉⲓⲁ ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲡ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲙⲟⲛⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲉⲩⲙⲟϣⲓ ϧⲉⲛⲟⲩⲕⲱⲧ ⲛⲉⲙⲟⲩⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲟⲧⲉⲃ ⲉⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛⲧⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ ⲙⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲛϩⲁⲛϣϣⲏⲛ ⲉⲩⲟⲡⲧ ⲛⲕⲁⲣⲡⲟⲥ .

Moreover, he remained near the old man Abba Zacharias, assisting him in all his works, as Joshua had served Moses, considering the way of life of the brethren who were in the monastery, walked in rule and observance, and prevailed over each other in virtue, like trees laden with fruit.

  24. bohairic.life.isaac03:108

ⲉⲥⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲧⲉⲛϣⲁϣⲛⲓ ⲉⲟⲩⲛⲁⲓ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛⲛⲉϥⲉⲩⲭⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲓⲏⲥⲟⲩⲥ ⲡⲉⲛϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲡⲣⲉⲡⲓⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲓⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ϣⲁⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲓⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲁⲙⲏⲛ .

May it be granted to all of us to obtain mercy through his holy prayers in Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom be glory with his good Father and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever! Amen.

  25. bohairic.life.isaac01:109

ⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲇⲉ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲛⲉϥⲁⲣⲉⲧⲏ ⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⲛϣⲫⲏⲣⲓ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛϧⲣⲏⲓ ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲉⲣⲥⲁⲡϣⲱⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲙⲟⲛⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϯⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲁϥⲑⲉⲃⲓⲟⲥ ϧⲓⲧⲉⲛⲡϧⲓⲥⲓ ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲥⲕⲏⲥⲓⲥ

As for Saint Isaac, the virtues that appeared in him were marvellous, so that he surpassed all those who were in the monastery; his flesh submitted to the sufferings of his ascetic life.

  26. bohairic.life.isaac02:109

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲉⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲁⲩⲓ ⲉⲣⲁⲕⲟϯ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ .

And on that day the great bishops arrived at Alexandria.

  27. bohairic.life.isaac01:110

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲟⲩⲣⲉⲙⲣⲁⲩϣ ⲡⲉ ⲛⲑⲉⲃⲓⲉ ⲉϥⲉⲣⲕⲟⲥⲙⲉⲓⲛ ϧⲉⲛⲛⲓϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲓⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ

    He was meek, humble, adorned with all the gifts of the Holy Spirit;

  28. bohairic.life.isaac02:110

ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ϫⲉⲁϥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲓⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲉⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲉⲫⲱϣⲉⲛ ⲙⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲁ ⲡⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ ⲥⲟⲧⲡϥ ⲉⲧⲉⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϫⲉⲙⲛⲓⲕⲉⲭⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲣⲁⲃⲏⲟⲩⲧ ϧⲁϫⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲁⲩϯⲙⲁϯ ⲛⲉⲙⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛϫⲉⲟⲩⲫⲱⲣϫ ϧⲉⲛⲧⲟⲩϩⲙⲏϯ

When they heard that the patriarch was dead, wishing to take the side of him whom Christ had chosen, that is, the holy Isaac, and finding that the others who had preceded them had agreed with Georgios, they became divided.

  29. bohairic.life.isaac02:111

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲥⲁⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲓ ⲉⲣⲁⲕⲟϯ ⲛϫⲉϩⲁⲛⲣⲉⲙⲛϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲉⲑⲣⲟⲩⲉⲛⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ϣⲁⲣⲟϥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉⲛⲓⲙ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁⲑⲁϣϥ

Immediately the king's servants arrived in Alexandria, who were to bring the bishops to him, so that he might know the one who had been elected.

  30. bohairic.life.isaac01:111

    ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲁϥϩⲱⲣⲡ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲛⲛⲁⲩ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲉϫⲱⲣϩ

    he did not sleep a multitude of hours during the night;

  31. bohairic.life.isaac01:112

ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ϯⲕⲩⲣⲓⲁⲕⲏ ⲙⲡⲁϥϩⲱⲣⲡ ⲉⲡⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲉⲧⲥⲁϩϯ ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉϥϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲫⲱⲣϫ ϧⲁⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲑⲟⲛⲧⲉⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲡⲓⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉⲡⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲉⲣⲃⲱⲕ ⲛⲱⲧⲉⲛ .

and even on Sundays he did not sleep at all, he lit the fire for the brethren, served them, parting bread before them, imitating the Saviour who had said, ‘Let the greatest among you serve others.’

  32. bohairic.life.isaac02:112

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲫⲟϩ ⲉⲃⲁⲃⲩⲗⲱⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲛⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲉϩⲱⲃ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲁⲛ .

And when they came to Babylon Fortress, Saint Isaac was serving Georgios, thinking nothing of the kind.

  33. bohairic.life.isaac01:113

ⲛⲁⲩⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲉϥⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲓⲛⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲛⲭⲣⲏⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲙϩⲁⲛϩⲃⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁϥⲥⲱⲣ ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲧⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁϥϣⲟⲡ ⲛⲥⲟⲗⲥⲉⲗ ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲩⲛⲏⲟⲩ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲩϭⲓ ⲛⲟⲙϯ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲧϥ .

When his brothers came to see him and brought him an abundance of wealth and clothing, he distributed them to the brothers who lived in the monastery, and he was a consolation to all who came to him for encouragement.

  34. bohairic.life.isaac02:113

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϧⲉⲛⲡϫⲓⲛⲑⲣⲟⲩϧⲟⲧϧⲉⲧ ⲛⲥⲁⲫⲃⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲅⲉⲱⲣⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲁⲩϫⲉⲙⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲛⲁⲓⲧⲓⲁ ϭⲓ ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲙⲁⲗⲓⲥⲧⲁ ϫⲉⲛⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥϭⲓⲅⲁⲙⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲟⲛ ϫⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ϩⲁⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛⲧⲁϥ ⲉⲩϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲙⲁϣⲱ .

And as they scrutinized the life of Georgios, they found a host of causes against him, especially that he was a married man with very wicked children.

It came to pass on Sunday that all the bishops and a multitude of people from Babylon Fortress, Alexandria, and all the lands met in the church of the holy Sergios, and behold, the Saint Isaac also entered it clothed in a humble habit.

And as the old man had no experience in this great war, he sent him to a great ascetic who had endured a great deal of suffering at the hands of demons.

Thus, by the suffrage of God and the consent of the people, the holy Isaac was brought away with honor and glory, and he was ordained archbishop by the laying on of hands.

ⲡⲉϫⲉ ⲡⲓϧⲉⲗⲗⲟ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉⲡⲁϣⲏⲣⲓ ϯⲛⲁϣϯⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲉⲧⲟⲧⲕ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲡⲉⲕⲓⲱⲧ ϫⲉⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲟⲩϣⲏⲣⲓ ⲛⲕⲟⲓⲛⲱⲛⲓⲁ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁϣⲉ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲉⲫⲙⲁ ⲙⲡⲉⲕⲉⲓⲱⲧ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲛⲁϫⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲕ ⲁⲣⲓⲧϥ ϯⲉⲣϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲉⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ϫⲉⲭⲛⲁⲙⲧⲟⲛ .

The old man said to him, ‘My son, I cannot give you orders for your father's sake, for you are a child of cenobitism; but go to your father, what he tells you, do it; I hope God will give you rest.

  74. bohairic.life.isaac02:133

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁⲩⲉⲣⲭⲟⲣⲉⲩⲓⲛ ϧⲁϫⲱϥ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲓⲙⲏϣ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲓϯⲙⲓ ϣⲓⲃϯ ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⲥⲁⲡⲉⲓⲉⲃⲧ ⲛⲉⲙⲥⲁⲡⲉⲙⲉⲛⲧ ⲙⲫⲓⲁⲣⲟ ⲓⲥϫⲉⲛⲃⲁⲃⲩⲗⲱⲛ ϣⲁⲣⲁⲕⲟϯ .

the crowds formed dancing choirs to celebrate it: to the east and west of the river the villages were transformed from Babylon Fortress to Alexandria.

  75. bohairic.life.isaac01:134

ⲉⲧⲁϥⲓ ⲁϥⲧⲁⲙⲉⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲙⲡⲓϧⲉⲗⲗⲟ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉϩⲱⲗ ⲁⲣⲓⲕⲁⲑⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉⲓⲛ ⲛⲛⲓⲙⲁ ⲛϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϯⲛⲁϩϯ ϫⲉⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛⲁϯⲙⲧⲟⲛ ⲛⲁⲕ .

When he had gone, he informed his father of the old man's words; his father answered him and said, ‘Go, and wash the brethren's seats; I hope God will give you rest.’

  76. bohairic.life.isaac02:134

ⲛⲁⲩⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲛϫⲉϩⲁⲛⲙⲏϣ ⲛⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲑⲱⲟⲩϯ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲡⲧⲁϩⲟ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲛⲛⲓⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ

The crowds of bishops who had gathered to enthrone him in the churches marched with him:

  77. bohairic.life.isaac02:135

ⲛⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲣⲉⲓⲱⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ ⲛϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ ⲡⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲡϣⲁϯ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲁϥⲟⲓ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ⲉϯⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲏ ⲛⲧⲉϯⲁⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϫⲏⲕ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛϯⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲉⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲅⲣⲏⲅⲟⲣⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲕⲁⲓⲥ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲛⲁϥⲟⲓ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲕⲣⲓⲧⲏⲥ ϩⲱϥ ⲉⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉϯⲕⲁⲧⲱ ⲛⲭⲱⲣⲁ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ .

among them were John, the bishop of Pschati, who was patrician over the episcopate of the high country, a man consummate in the wisdom of God and men, and Gregory, the bishop of Cais, who was also patrician over the bishops of the lower country, with all the bishops.

  78. bohairic.life.isaac01:135

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϣⲉⲡⲡⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛⲟⲩϩⲉⲓⲣⲏⲛⲏ ⲉⲡⲉⲓⲇⲏ ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲁϥϭⲟϫⲓ ⲛⲥⲁⲡⲓⲑⲉⲃⲓⲟ ⲁϥϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲓϧⲓⲥⲓ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲛⲥ ⲛⲁⲃⲟⲧ ⲉϥⲙⲁϩⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲓⲉϫⲱⲣϩ ⲉϥⲉⲣⲕⲁⲑⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉⲓⲛ ⲛⲛⲓⲙⲁ ⲛϩⲉⲙⲥⲓ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲉϫⲱⲣϩ .

He spoke this in peace, because on every occasion he followed humility: he remained six months in this suffering, drawing water for the brethren during the night and washing their seats during the night.

  79. bohairic.life.isaac02:136

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲫⲟϩ ⲉϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⲣⲁⲕⲟϯ ⲁⲩⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉϩⲣⲁϥ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲓⲙⲏϣ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲉⲣⲉⲛⲓⲕⲗⲏⲣⲓⲕⲟⲥ ϥⲁⲓ ⲛⲛⲓⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲓⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙϩⲁⲛⲕⲩⲣⲱⲛ ⲉⲩⲙⲟϩ

And when they had reached the city of Alexandria, it came to pass that the whole crowd went out: the clerics carried the gospels, crosses and lit candles.

  80. bohairic.life.isaac01:136

ⲙⲉⲛⲉⲛⲥⲁⲡⲁⲓⲡⲟⲗⲉⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲑⲛⲁϣⲧ ⲉⲧⲭⲏ ϧⲁϫⲱϥ ⲁⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲉⲣϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϩⲁⲛⲧⲁⲗϭⲟ ⲉⲩⲟϣ .

After this hard battle that he had to endure, God gave him the grace of many healings.

  81. bohairic.life.isaac01:137

ⲁⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲟⲡ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϣⲉ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲕⲟⲓ ⲉⲑⲃⲉϩⲁⲛⲕⲟⲩϫⲓ ⲛⲣⲟⲕϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϫⲱⲕ ⲙⲡⲟⲩϩⲱⲃ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲓ ⲉⲩⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲟⲩⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ

It happened once that the brothers went into the fields to gather some fuel, and when they had finished the work they returned to their dwelling.

  82. bohairic.life.isaac02:137

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁⲩⲉⲣⲯⲁⲗⲗⲉⲓⲛ ϧⲁϫⲱϥ ϣⲁⲧⲟⲩⲟⲗϥ ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉϯⲃⲁⲕⲓ .

And they sang in his honor until they had brought him into the city.

  83. bohairic.life.isaac02:138

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲭⲉⲓⲣⲟⲧⲟⲛⲉⲓⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲥⲟⲩⲏ ⲛⲭⲟⲓⲁⲕ ⲛⲟⲩⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲕⲩⲣⲓⲁⲕⲏ

And so their hands were laid upon him as archbishop on the eighth day of Koiak, a Sunday.

  84. bohairic.life.isaac01:138

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲩⲙⲟϣⲓ ϩⲓⲡⲓⲙⲱⲓⲧ ⲁⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲉⲣⲥⲁⲫⲁⲟⲩ ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉϥϥⲱϫⲓ ⲛⲥⲁⲛⲓⲥⲑⲟⲓ ⲛⲧⲱⲟⲩ .

    As they were walking along the road, Saint Isaac stayed behind to gather fragrant flowers for them;

  85. bohairic.life.isaac02:139

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲧϩⲉⲙⲥⲟϥ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛⲡⲓⲑⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲓⲉⲩⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲥⲧⲏⲥ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲙⲁⲣⲕⲟⲥ ⲡⲓϧⲏⲃⲥ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲉⲣⲟⲛ

And he was seated on the apostolic throne of the holy evangelist Mark, a light that enlightens us

  86. bohairic.life.isaac01:139

ⲉⲧⲁϥⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲉϫⲉⲛⲟⲩⲃⲱ ⲛⲥⲑⲟⲓ ϫⲉⲉϥⲛⲁϥⲟϫⲥ ⲛⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲁϫⲱ ϧⲉⲛⲧⲉⲥⲙⲏϯ ⲁⲥⲭⲗⲟⲙⲗⲉⲙ ⲉⲧⲉϥϫⲓϫ .

but when he came to a flowering shrub to gather it, a viper in the middle rushed upon his hand.

  87. bohairic.life.isaac02:140

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩϫⲱⲕ ⲉϫⲱϥ ⲙⲡⲓϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲛⲧⲉϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲛⲓⲕⲁⲛⲱⲛ ⲛⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲓⲕⲟⲛ .

And the service of the archpriesthood was performed according to the apostolic canons.

  88. bohairic.life.isaac01:140

ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲁⲩⲉϣⲟⲩϧⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲩⲙⲉⲩⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ϥⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩ ⲛϯⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ .

When the brothers saw him thus, they cried out, believing that he would die on the spot.

  89. bohairic.life.isaac02:141

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥϭⲓ ⲙⲡⲓⲉⲣϣⲓϣ ϩⲓⲧⲉⲛⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲉⲥⲱⲛϩ ⲛⲉⲙⲉⲃⲱⲗ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲕⲟⲥⲙⲟⲥ ⲧⲏⲣϥ

    And when he had received the power of God to bind and loose, he shone in all the world;

  90. bohairic.life.isaac01:141

ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲁϥⲃⲉⲣⲃⲱⲣⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡⲉϩⲗⲓ ⲙⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲧⲁϩⲟϥ .

But he threw the viper away, without any evil having reached him.

  91. bohairic.life.isaac02:142

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲏ ⲉⲧϧⲉⲛⲡⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲓⲟⲛ ⲁϥⲭⲱ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲛϧⲣⲏⲓ ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲑⲣⲉⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲣⲏⲥⲩⲭⲁⲍⲉⲓⲛ ϧⲉⲛⲛⲟⲩⲙⲁ ⲛϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲥⲉⲉⲣⲙⲉⲗⲉⲧⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛⲛⲓⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲟⲛ ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲓⲣⲓ ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲥⲩⲛⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲛⲥⲟⲡ ⲉϥϯⲭⲟϩ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϧⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲫⲃⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲛⲓⲣⲉⲙϣⲓⲏⲧ .

To those who were in the archiepiscopal palace he gave orders that the brethren should rest in their dwellings, meditating on the Holy Scriptures, and making a synaxis with one another; he often spoke to them, provoking them to imitate the life of the men of Skete.

  92. bohairic.life.isaac01:142

ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛϫⲉⲛⲓⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲁⲓϩⲱⲃ ⲛϣⲫⲏⲣⲓ ⲁⲩϩⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱϣⲧ ⲙⲙⲟϥ .

When the brethren saw this wonderful work, they bowed down and worshipped it.

  93. bohairic.life.isaac01:143

ⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲛⲁⲩ ⲱ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲛⲣⲁϯ ϫⲉⲁⲡⲁⲓϩⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲗⲟⲩ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥⲧⲉⲛⲑⲱⲛⲧ ⲉⲛⲓⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲛⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲡϭⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϫⲟⲥ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲁⲡⲟⲥⲧⲟⲗⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉϥⲟⲛⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉⲫⲏ ⲉⲧⲁⲣⲉϩ ⲉⲛⲁⲉⲛⲧⲟⲗⲏ ⲛⲓⲙⲏⲓⲛⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲁⲓⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲉⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲱⲟⲩ .

You see, my dearly beloved, a holy young man imitated the apostles and became like them, according to what the Lord said to his apostles, whom he resembled, ‘He who keeps my commandments will make all the signs that I have made.’

  94. bohairic.life.isaac02:143

ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲇⲉ ⲛϫⲉⲡⲕⲉⲥⲉⲉⲡⲏ ⲛⲛⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲓⲙⲟⲛⲁⲭⲟⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲛⲓⲙⲟⲛⲁⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ϫⲉⲫⲏ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲓⲥⲁⲁⲕ ⲉⲧⲟⲓ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲡⲓⲥⲕⲟⲡⲟⲥ ⲁⲩⲓ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁⲩⲉⲣⲡⲣⲟⲥⲕⲩⲛⲉⲓⲛ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲩⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲧⲉϥⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛⲥⲟⲫⲓⲁ ⲛⲉⲙⲛⲉϥⲁⲥⲕⲏⲥⲓⲥ

When the rest of the bishops and the monks of the monasteries heard that Saint Isaac was a bishop, they came to him and adored him, for they knew his great wisdom and asceticism.

  95. bohairic.life.isaac02:144

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁϥ ⲟⲓ ⲛⲧⲩⲡⲟⲥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛϩⲁⲛϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⲉⲛⲁⲛⲉⲩ .

He was a model for them in good works.

  96. bohairic.life.isaac02:145

ⲡⲁⲓϩⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲱ ⲛⲁⲙⲉⲛⲣⲁϯ ⲁⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲉⲣⲭⲁⲣⲓⲍⲉⲥⲑⲁⲓ ⲛⲁϥ ⲛϩⲁⲛ ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⲛⲧⲁⲗϭⲟ ⲛⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲛⲣⲏϯ .

God granted this saint, my beloved, graces of healing a multitude of times.

  97. bohairic.life.isaac02:146

ⲥⲟⲡ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲛⲁϩⲱⲗ ⲉϫⲉⲛⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⲉⲉⲣⲡⲣⲟⲥⲫⲉⲣⲉⲓⲛ ⲓⲥϫⲉⲛⲡⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲧⲉϥⲛⲁⲉⲣϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲉϯⲁⲛⲁⲫⲟⲣⲁ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲛⲉϥⲃⲁⲗ ⲓⲛⲓ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲛϩⲁⲛⲉⲣⲙⲱⲟⲩⲓ ϣⲁⲧⲉϥϫⲱⲕ ⲙⲡⲓϣⲉⲙϣⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ

Every time he entered the altar to make the oblation, as soon as he began the holy offering, his eyes shed tears until he had finished the service.

  98. bohairic.life.isaac02:147

ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥϣⲁⲛⲫⲟϩ ⲉⲡⲓⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⲉϫⲉⲛⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲛⲉⲣϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ϣⲁϥⲉⲣⲑⲉⲱⲣⲉⲓⲛ ⲙⲡⲓⲡⲛⲉⲩⲙⲁ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲉϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉϫⲉⲛϯⲑⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⲙⲡⲓⲱⲓⲕ ⲛⲉⲙⲡⲓⲁⲫⲟⲧ ⲉⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲛⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲛⲧⲉⲡⲭⲣⲓⲥⲧⲟⲥ

And when he arrived at the hour, the Holy Spirit descended on the altar, he saw the Holy Spirit coming upon the sacrificial offering, changing the bread and wine into the divine body of Christ.

  99. bohairic.life.isaac02:148

ϧⲉⲛⲡϫⲓⲛⲑⲣⲉⲡⲁⲓⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲁⲓⲛⲓϣϯ ⲛϭⲱⲣⲡ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲟⲩϩⲟϯ ⲁⲙⲟⲛⲓ ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲛⲉⲙⲟⲩⲣⲁϣⲓ .

When this saint saw this great revelation, he was seized with fear and joy.

  100. bohairic.life.isaac02:149

ϧⲉⲛϯⲟⲩⲛⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲣⲉⲡⲉϥϩⲟ ϩⲓⲁⲕⲧⲓⲛ ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲉⲃⲱⲗ ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲣϣⲫⲏⲣⲓ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉⲁⲫⲛⲟⲩϯ ⲁⲓⲧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙⲡϣⲁ ⲛⲟⲩϩⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲁⲃ .

And at that moment, his face would shine brightly, so much so that everyone was in awe and said, “God has made us worthy of such a saint.”
