Translation
3 You(f.) should go up into the mountains!
4 You(f.) have blackened the mouth of the man as if with excrement!
5 Lie(f.) down! May they put you(f.) to rest!
6–9 Until there will be joy and the dead man revives from the Netherworld, you shall not rise!
10–11 The incantation is not mine! It is the incantation of Enlil!
12–13 The incantation is not mine! It is the incantation of Šamaš!
15–16 I am the wild bull of the mountains
17–18 (and) I cast the incantation on my body!
Commentary
1–2: Interpretation follows Stadhouders (2008, 173f.). The reconstruction t[a-ka-li] is expected (rather than t[a-ka-al]), since the 2.f.sg. is consistently used when addressing the worm.
3: The motif of expelling evil into the mountains (or another place outside the realm of society) is frequently found in Akkadian incantations, see e.g. AuOr Suppl. 23, 14a: 6 (Zomer 2018, 259); MC 17, 443ff.: 17 (Farber 2014, 181). These more extensive parallels elaborate that in these faraway places, evil can feast on more delicious things, see Zomer (forthcoming).
4: Interpretation of this line follows Collins (1999, 271).
6: īmi rīšātim: ewûm + acc., esp. with abstract nouns, denotes "turning into...".
