2 ù Pa-ra-aḫ-ši-im
3 ka-al-bu-um a-wi-lam iš-šu-uk
4 a-nu-um-ma a-na ša-ri-im
5 a-li-ki-im qí-bi-a-ma
6 ni-ši-ik ka-al-bi-im
7 me-ra-ni-e a i-ib-ni
9 a-na ṣí-bi-it-ti-im
11 a-wi-lum li-ib-lu-uṭ-ma
Translation
Obv.
1–2 Between Kudimšim and Parahšim
3 a dog has bitten a man.
4–5 Now say (pl.) to the blowing wind:
Rev.
6–7 May the dog’s bite not produce puppies!
8–9 Cause (pl.) the dog enter into custody!
10–11 May the dog die and the man live!
Commentary
7: Sigrist 1987, 85 with n. 2, reads e ib-ni, forgetting i- and assuming an erasure after e. Finkel 1999, 214 has a-a(!) ib-ni. The correct reading me-ra-né-e a i-ib-ni, confirmed by the photo as well as by the Akkadian grammar, is offered by Groneberg 2007, 98.
8: Sigrist 1987, 85, followed by Finkel 1999, 215 has šu-ri-ma. Groneberg 2007, 98 reads šu-ri-ba which fits better the sign form (cf. -ma l. 4).
