ii 1–5 The king (Simbar-Šipak) arrived in the month of Iyyar, day 11, [and] sl[augh]tered the lambs for the procession of Bēl, but he did not [st]re[w (incense)], (and the priests) kept offering the (regular) offerings and the meal for the god(s), which they had been [of]fering up to the day of the akītu festival, for four (more) days in Esagil and the (other) temples of the gods, as in normal times. Up to the day of the offering the king did not scatter (incense), but the high priest scattered and took care of the temple.

ii 6–11 In the month of Tamuz, a wolf was (found) couching (in the quarter) on the western bank (of the Euphrates), and they killed it. In the month of Ab, physicians [. . .] and saw a badger at the Uraš Gate, in the gate of the temple administrator's residence. In the month of Tishre, day 25, a live panther floated down the river; they killed it behind (the temple) E-gidri-kalamma-[s]u[mm]u and carried it to dry land.

ii 12–14 In the month of Ab, day 16, year 7 (of Simbar-Šipak), two deer entered Babylon, and they killed them. In the month of Siwan, day 26, year 7, day turned to night, and a fire was s[ee]n in the midst of the sky.

ii 15 In the month of Elul, year 11 (of Simbar-Šipak), the waters came within the (encircling) wall of the outer ("lower") court (of Esagil).

ii 16–18 In years 13, 14, and 15, for three years in suc[c]ession, the chariot of Bēl did not [g]o out (in procession) from day 3 of the month Addar to the month of Nisan. In the month of Nisan, year 15 (of Simbar-Šipak), Bēl did not go out (in procession).

ii 19–26 In the month of Iyyar, day 14, year 17 (of Simbar-Šipak), the outer city wall of the Uraš Gate was seen to move. In the month of Siwan, day 15, year 17/18, when [Bē]l was going dow[n] from the Ištar Gate to the river, and when he was entering Babylon (again), on the western bank (of the Euphrates) [a lion] was couching i[n the cane]brakes. It killed two soldiers. At the dais (in front) of the gate of the temple of [. . .], when they closed the doors of the outer ("lower") suššu gate, and when (the lion then) fell [into a p]it, they killed it, and th[ey removed it (from the pit and brought it into the steppe,)] . . . iii 2'–4' In the month of Iyyar, a wolf was couching (in the quarter) on [the western bank (of the Euphrates) in] the Eighth Orchard; they saw it and killed it. In the month of Iyyar, a deer which nobody had seen entering the city was seen in the Gate of My Lord, and they killed it.

iii 4'–6' In the month of Nisan, year 7 (of Nabû-mukīn-apli), the Arameans became hostile. The king did not go up to Babylon, and so Nabû did not come, and B[ēl did not go out.]

iii 6'–9' In the month of Nisan, year 8 of Nabû-mukīn-apli the king, the Arameans were hostile (again) and seized the gate of the crossing of the city Kār-Bēl-mātāti ("Quay of the Lord of the Lands"), and so the king did not come over. Thus Nabû did not come and Bēl did not go out. (The king) did [no]t offer the offering of the akītu festival according to h[is] (Bēl's) order.

iii 10'–11' In the month of Nisan, year 8 of Nabû-mukīn-apli the king, ditto; (but the high priest) off<ered> (at least) the [re]gular offering.

iii 11'–13' In the month of Tamuz, year 16 (of Nabû-mukīn-apli), a lion which nobody had seen entering the city was seen (in the quarter) on the western bank (of the Euphrates) in the Eighth Orchard, and they killed it.

iii 13'–15' Year 20 of Nabû-mukīn-apli the king, Bēl did not go out and Nabû did not come. For nine years in succession Bēl did not go out, and Nabû did not come.

iii 15'–18' Year 25 of Nabû-mukīn-apli the king, the (protective) kāribu-genie who (stands) on the right-hand side of the gate of the cella of [Bēl] was seen to move. An (evil) mukīl-rēš-lemutti demon was seen in the bed chambers of Nabû; it was d[riven o]ut. (The reason) that Nabû [had] n[ot com]e (to Babylon) was seen in the meat (of a sacrificial lamb).

iii 19' In the month of Shebat, day 21, year 26 of Nabû-mukīn-apli the king, Adad thundered and [he let] his fire [fall] into the nuḫaru (temple on the top of the ziggurat).
