26. Ash-Shu'araa — The Poets
- 26:201
لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُاْ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِيمَ
La yuminoona bihi hatta yarawoo alAAathaba alaleema
They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom
- 26:202
فَيَأۡتِيَهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ
Fayatiyahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona
So that it will come upon them suddenly, when they perceive not
- 26:203
فَيَقُولُواْ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ
Fayaqooloo hal nahnu muntharoona
Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved
- 26:204
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ
AfabiAAathabina yastaAAjiloona
Would they (now) hasten on Our doom
- 26:205
أَفَرَءَيۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَٰهُمۡ سِنِينَ
Afaraayta in mattaAAnahum sineena
Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years
- 26:206
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَ
Thumma jaahum ma kanoo yooAAadoona
And then cometh that which they were promised
- 26:207
مَآ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يُمَتَّعُونَ
Ma aghna AAanhum ma kanoo yumattaAAoona
(How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them
- 26:208
وَمَآ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ
Wama ahlakna min qaryatin illa laha munthiroona
And We destroyed no township but it had its warners
- 26:209
ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
Thikra wama kunna thalimeena
For reminder, for We never were oppressors
- 26:210
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
Wama tanazzalat bihi alshshayateenu
The devils did not bring it down
- 26:211
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِي لَهُمۡ وَمَا يَسۡتَطِيعُونَ
Wama yanbaghee lahum wama yastateeAAoona
It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power
- 26:212
إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ
Innahum AAani alssamAAi lamaAAzooloona
Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing
- 26:213
فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِينَ
Fala tadAAu maAAa Allahi ilahan akhara fatakoona mina almuAAaththabeena
Therefor invoke not with Allah another god, lest thou be one of the doomed
- 26:214
وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِينَ
Waanthir AAasheerataka alaqrabeena
And warn thy tribe of near kindred
- 26:215
وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Waikhfid janahaka limani ittabaAAaka mina almumineena
And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee
- 26:216
فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّي بَرِيٓءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ
Fain AAasawka faqul innee bareeon mimma taAAmaloona
And if they (thy kinsfolk) disobey thee, say: Lo! I am innocent of what they do
- 26:217
وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Watawakkal AAala alAAazeezi alrraheemi
And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful
- 26:218
ٱلَّذِي يَرَىٰكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
Allathee yaraka heena taqoomu
Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray)
- 26:219
وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي ٱلسَّٰجِدِينَ
Wataqallubaka fee alssajideena
And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship)
- 26:220
إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلۡعَلِيمُ
Innahu huwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu
Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower
- 26:221
هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ
Hal onabbiokum AAala man tanazzalu alshshayateenu
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend
- 26:222
تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمࣲ
Tanazzalu AAala kulli affakin atheemin
They descend on every sinful, false one
- 26:223
يُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَٰذِبُونَ
Yulqoona alssamAAa waaktharuhum kathiboona
They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars
- 26:224
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ
WaalshshuAAarao yattabiAAuhumu alghawoona
As for poets, the erring follow them
- 26:225
أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِي كُلِّ وَادࣲ يَهِيمُونَ
Alam tara annahum fee kulli wadin yaheemoona
Hast thou not seen how they stray in every valley
- 26:226
وَأَنَّهُمۡ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفۡعَلُونَ
Waannahum yaqooloona ma la yafAAaloona
And how they say that which they do not
- 26:227
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُواْ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرࣰ ا وَٱنتَصَرُواْ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُواْۗ وَسَيَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَيَّ مُنقَلَبࣲ يَنقَلِبُونَ
Illa allatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati wathakaroo Allaha katheeran waintasaroo min baAAdi ma thulimoo wasayaAAlamu allatheena thalamoo ayya munqalabin yanqaliboona
Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned
