23. Al-Muminoon — The Believers

23:1
قَدۡ أَفۡلَحَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ
Qad aflaha almuminoona
Successful indeed are the believers
23:2
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ فِي صَلَاتِهِمۡ خَٰشِعُونَ
Allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoona
Who are humble in their prayers
23:3
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنِ ٱللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُونَ
Waallatheena hum AAani allaghwi muAAridoona
And who shun vain conversation
23:4
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِلزَّكَوٰةِ فَٰعِلُونَ
Waallatheena hum lilzzakati faAAiloona
And who are payers of the poor-due
23:5
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ حَٰفِظُونَ
Waallatheena hum lifuroojihim hafithoona
And who guard their modesty
23:6
إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزۡوَٰجِهِمۡ أَوۡ مَا مَلَكَتۡ أَيۡمَٰنُهُمۡ فَإِنَّهُمۡ غَيۡرُ مَلُومِينَ
Illa AAala azwajihim aw ma malakat aymanuhum fainnahum ghayru maloomeena
Save from their wives or the (slaves) that their right hands possess, for then they are not blameworthy
23:7
فَمَنِ ٱبۡتَغَىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡعَادُونَ
Famani ibtagha waraa thalika faolaika humu alAAadoona
But whoso craveth beyond that, such are transgressors
23:8
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمۡ وَعَهۡدِهِمۡ رَٰعُونَ
Waallatheena hum liamanatihim waAAahdihim raAAoona
And who are shepherds of their pledge and their covenant
23:9
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَلَىٰ صَلَوَٰتِهِمۡ يُحَافِظُونَ
Waallatheena hum AAala salawatihim yuhafithoona
And who pay heed to their prayers
23:10
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلۡوَٰرِثُونَ
Olaika humu alwarithoona
These are the heirs
23:11
ٱلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلۡفِرۡدَوۡسَ هُمۡ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ
Allatheena yarithoona alfirdawsa hum feeha khalidoona
Who will inherit paradise. There they will abide
23:12
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن سُلَٰلَةࣲ مِّن طِينࣲ‏
Walaqad khalaqna alinsana min sulalatin min teenin
Verily We created man from a product of wet earth
23:13
ثُمَّ جَعَلۡنَٰهُ نُطۡفَةࣰ فِي قَرَارࣲ مَّكِينࣲ‏
Thumma jaAAalnahu nutfatan fee qararin makeenin
Then placed him as a drop (of seed) in a safe lodging
23:14
ثُمَّ خَلَقۡنَا ٱلنُّطۡفَةَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡعَلَقَةَ مُضۡغَةࣰ فَخَلَقۡنَا ٱلۡمُضۡغَةَ عِظَٰمࣰ ا فَكَسَوۡنَا ٱلۡعِظَٰمَ لَحۡمࣰ ا ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَٰهُ خَلۡقًا ءَاخَرَۚ فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلۡخَٰلِقِينَ
Thumma khalaqna alnnutfata AAalaqatan fakhalaqna alAAalaqata mudghatan fakhalaqna almudghata AAithaman fakasawna alAAithama lahman thumma anshanahu khalqan akhara fatabaraka Allahu ahsanu alkhaliqeena
Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators
23:15
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُم بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَيِّتُونَ
Thumma innakum baAAda thalika lamayyitoona
Then lo! after that ye surely die
23:16
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمۡ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ تُبۡعَثُونَ
Thumma innakum yawma alqiyamati tubAAathoona
Then lo! on the Day of Resurrection ye are raised (again)
23:17
وَلَقَدۡ خَلَقۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعَ طَرَآئِقَ وَمَا كُنَّا عَنِ ٱلۡخَلۡقِ غَٰفِلِينَ
Walaqad khalaqna fawqakum sabAAa taraiqa wama kunna AAani alkhalqi ghafileena
And We have created above you seven paths, and We are never unmindful of creation
23:18
وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءَۢ بِقَدَرࣲ فَأَسۡكَنَّٰهُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِۖ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذَهَابِۭ بِهِۦ لَقَٰدِرُونَ
Waanzalna mina alssamai maan biqadarin faaskannahu fee alardi wainna AAala thahabin bihi laqadiroona
And we send down from the sky water in measure, and We give it lodging in the earth, and lo! We are Able to withdraw it
23:19
فَأَنشَأۡنَا لَكُم بِهِۦ جَنَّٰتࣲ مِّن نَّخِيلࣲ وَأَعۡنَٰبࣲ لَّكُمۡ فِيهَا فَوَٰكِهُ كَثِيرَةࣱ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Faanshana lakum bihi jannatin min nakheelin waaAAnabin lakum feeha fawakihu katheeratun waminha takuloona
Then We produce for you therewith gardens of date-palms and grapes, wherein is much fruit for you and whereof ye eat
23:20
وَشَجَرَةࣰ تَخۡرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيۡنَآءَ تَنۢبُتُ بِٱلدُّهۡنِ وَصِبۡغࣲ لِّلۡأٓكِلِينَ
Washajaratan takhruju min toori saynaa tanbutu bialdduhni wasibghin lilakileena
And a tree that springeth forth from Mount Sinai that groweth oil and relish for the eaters
23:21
وَإِنَّ لَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَنۡعَٰمِ لَعِبۡرَةࣰۖ نُّسۡقِيكُم مِّمَّا فِي بُطُونِهَا وَلَكُمۡ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُ كَثِيرَةࣱ وَمِنۡهَا تَأۡكُلُونَ
Wainna lakum fee alanAAami laAAibratan nusqeekum mimma fee butooniha walakum feeha manafiAAu katheeratun waminha takuloona
And lo! in the cattle there is verily a lesson for you. We give you to drink of that which is in their bellies, and many uses have ye in them, and of them do ye eat
23:22
وَعَلَيۡهَا وَعَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ تُحۡمَلُونَ
WaAAalayha waAAala alfulki tuhmaloona
And on them and on the ship ye are carried
23:23
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرُهُۥٓۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona
And We verily sent Noah unto his folk, and he said: O my people! Serve Allah. Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)
23:24
فَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَؤُاْ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوۡمِهِۦ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يُرِيدُ أَن يَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ وَلَوۡ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَأَنزَلَ مَلَٰٓئِكَةࣰ مَّا سَمِعۡنَا بِهَٰذَا فِيٓ ءَابَآئِنَا ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Faqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yureedu an yatafaddala AAalaykum walaw shaa Allahu laanzala malaikatan ma samiAAna bihatha fee abaina alawwaleena
But the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved, said: This is only a mortal like you who would make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed, He surely could have sent down angels. We heard not of this in the case of our fathers of old
23:25
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلُۢ بِهِۦ جِنَّةࣱ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ حِينࣲ‏
In huwa illa rajulun bihi jinnatun fatarabbasoo bihi hatta heenin
He is only a man in whom is a madness, so watch him for a while
23:26
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni
He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me
23:27
فَأَوۡحَيۡنَآ إِلَيۡهِ أَنِ ٱصۡنَعِ ٱلۡفُلۡكَ بِأَعۡيُنِنَا وَوَحۡيِنَا فَإِذَا جَآءَ أَمۡرُنَا وَفَارَ ٱلتَّنُّورُ فَٱسۡلُكۡ فِيهَا مِن كُلࣲّ زَوۡجَيۡنِ ٱثۡنَيۡنِ وَأَهۡلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيۡهِ ٱلۡقَوۡلُ مِنۡهُمۡۖ وَلَا تُخَٰطِبۡنِي فِي ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ إِنَّهُم مُّغۡرَقُونَ
Faawhayna ilayhi ani isnaAAi alfulka biaAAyunina wawahyina faitha jaa amruna wafara alttannooru faosluk feeha min kullin zawjayni ithnayni waahlaka illa man sabaqa AAalayhi alqawlu minhum wala tukhatibnee fee allatheena thalamoo innahum mughraqoona
Then We inspired in him, saying: Make the ship under Our eyes and Our inspiration. Then, when Our command cometh and the oven gusheth water, introduce therein of every (kind) two spouses, and thy household save him thereof against whom the Word hath already gone forth. And plead not with Me on behalf of those who have done wrong. Lo! they will be drowned
23:28
فَإِذَا ٱسۡتَوَيۡتَ أَنتَ وَمَن مَّعَكَ عَلَى ٱلۡفُلۡكِ فَقُلِ ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي نَجَّىٰنَا مِنَ ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Faitha istawayta anta waman maAAaka AAala alfulki faquli alhamdu lillahi allathee najjana mina alqawmi alththalimeena
And when thou art on board the ship, thou and whoso is with thee, then say: Praise be to Allah Who hath saved us from the wrongdoing folk
23:29
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَنزِلۡنِي مُنزَلࣰ ا مُّبَارَكࣰ ا وَأَنتَ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡمُنزِلِينَ
Waqul rabbi anzilnee munzalan mubarakan waanta khayru almunzileena
And say: My Lord! Cause me to land at a blessed landing-place, for Thou art Best of all who bring to land
23:30
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتࣲ وَإِن كُنَّا لَمُبۡتَلِينَ
Inna fee thalika laayatin wain kunna lamubtaleena
Lo! herein verily are portents, for lo! We are ever putting (mankind) to the test
23:31
ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قَرۡنًا ءَاخَرِينَ
Thumma anshana min baAAdihim qarnan akhareena
Then, after them, We brought forth another generation
23:32
فَأَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيهِمۡ رَسُولࣰ ا مِّنۡهُمۡ أَنِ ٱعۡبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنۡ إِلَٰهٍ غَيۡرُهُۥٓۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Faarsalna feehim rasoolan minhum ani oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona
And we sent among them a messenger of their own, saying: Serve Allah, Ye have no other Allah save Him. Will ye not ward off (evil)
23:33
وَقَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ وَكَذَّبُواْ بِلِقَآءِ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَأَتۡرَفۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُكُمۡ يَأۡكُلُ مِمَّا تَأۡكُلُونَ مِنۡهُ وَيَشۡرَبُ مِمَّا تَشۡرَبُونَ
Waqala almalao min qawmihi allatheena kafaroo wakaththaboo biliqai alakhirati waatrafnahum fee alhayati alddunya ma hatha illa basharun mithlukum yakulu mimma takuloona minhu wayashrabu mimma tashraboona
And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink
23:34
وَلَئِنۡ أَطَعۡتُم بَشَرࣰ ا مِّثۡلَكُمۡ إِنَّكُمۡ إِذࣰ ا لَّخَٰسِرُونَ
Walain ataAAtum basharan mithlakum innakum ithan lakhasiroona
If ye were to obey a mortal like yourselves, then, lo! ye surely would be losers
23:35
أَيَعِدُكُمۡ أَنَّكُمۡ إِذَا مِتُّمۡ وَكُنتُمۡ تُرَابࣰ ا وَعِظَٰمًا أَنَّكُم مُّخۡرَجُونَ
AyaAAidukum annakum itha mittum wakuntum turaban waAAithaman annakum mukhrajoona
Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth
23:36
۞هَيۡهَاتَ هَيۡهَاتَ لِمَا تُوعَدُونَ
Hayhata hayhata lima tooAAadoona
Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised
23:37
إِنۡ هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمَبۡعُوثِينَ
In hiya illa hayatuna alddunya namootu wanahya wama nahnu bimabAAootheena
There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again)
23:38
إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبࣰ ا وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَهُۥ بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ
In huwa illa rajulun iftara AAala Allahi kathiban wama nahnu lahu bimumineena
He is only a man who hath invented a lie about Allah. We are not going to put faith in him
23:39
قَالَ رَبِّ ٱنصُرۡنِي بِمَا كَذَّبُونِ
Qala rabbi onsurnee bima kaththabooni
He said: My Lord! Help me because they deny me
23:40
قَالَ عَمَّا قَلِيلࣲ لَّيُصۡبِحُنَّ نَٰدِمِينَ
Qala AAamma qaleelin layusbihunna nadimeena
He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant
23:41
فَأَخَذَتۡهُمُ ٱلصَّيۡحَةُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ غُثَآءࣰۚ فَبُعۡدࣰ ا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Faakhathathumu alssayhatu bialhaqqi fajaAAalnahum ghuthaan fabuAAdan lilqawmi alththalimeena
So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk
23:42
ثُمَّ أَنشَأۡنَا مِنۢ بَعۡدِهِمۡ قُرُونًا ءَاخَرِينَ
Thumma anshana min baAAdihim quroonan akhareena
Then after them We brought forth other generations
23:43
مَا تَسۡبِقُ مِنۡ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسۡتَـٔۡخِرُونَ
Ma tasbiqu min ommatin ajalaha wama yastakhiroona
No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it
23:44
ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتۡرَاۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةࣰ رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُۖ فَأَتۡبَعۡنَا بَعۡضَهُم بَعۡضࣰ ا وَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ أَحَادِيثَۚ فَبُعۡدࣰ ا لِّقَوۡمࣲ لَّا يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Thumma arsalna rusulana tatra kulla ma jaa ommatan rasooluha kaththaboohu faatbaAAna baAAdahum baAAdan wajaAAalnahum ahadeetha fabuAAdan liqawmin la yuminoona
Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not
23:45
ثُمَّ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَأَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلۡطَٰنࣲ مُّبِينٍ
Thumma arsalna moosa waakhahu haroona biayatina wasultanin mubeenin
Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant
23:46
إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَٱسۡتَكۡبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوۡمًا عَالِينَ
Ila firAAawna wamalaihi faistakbaroo wakanoo qawman AAaleena
Unto Pharaoh and his chiefs, but they scorned (them) and they were despotic folk
23:47
فَقَالُوٓاْ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لِبَشَرَيۡنِ مِثۡلِنَا وَقَوۡمُهُمَا لَنَا عَٰبِدُونَ
Faqaloo anuminu libasharayni mithlina waqawmuhuma lana AAabidoona
And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us
23:48
فَكَذَّبُوهُمَا فَكَانُواْ مِنَ ٱلۡمُهۡلَكِينَ
Fakaththaboohuma fakanoo mina almuhlakeena
So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed
23:49
وَلَقَدۡ ءَاتَيۡنَا مُوسَى ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَهۡتَدُونَ
Walaqad atayna moosa alkitaba laAAallahum yahtadoona
And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright
23:50
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱبۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥٓ ءَايَةࣰ وَءَاوَيۡنَٰهُمَآ إِلَىٰ رَبۡوَةࣲ ذَاتِ قَرَارࣲ وَمَعِينࣲ‏
WajaAAalna ibna maryama waommahu ayatan waawaynahuma ila rabwatin thati qararin wamaAAeenin
And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings
23:51
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرُّسُلُ كُلُواْ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَٱعۡمَلُواْ صَٰلِحًاۖ إِنِّي بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ عَلِيمࣱ‏
Ya ayyuha alrrusulu kuloo mina alttayyibati waiAAmaloo salihan innee bima taAAmaloona AAaleemun
O ye messengers! Eat of the good things, and do right. Lo! I am Aware of what ye do
23:52
وَإِنَّ هَٰذِهِۦٓ أُمَّتُكُمۡ أُمَّةࣰ وَٰحِدَةࣰ وَأَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمۡ فَٱتَّقُونِ
Wainna hathihi ommatukum ommatan wahidatan waana rabbukum faittaqooni
And lo! this your religion is one religion and I am your Lord, so keep your duty unto Me
23:53
فَتَقَطَّعُوٓاْ أَمۡرَهُم بَيۡنَهُمۡ زُبُرࣰ اۖ كُلُّ حِزۡبِۭ بِمَا لَدَيۡهِمۡ فَرِحُونَ
FataqattaAAoo amrahum baynahum zuburan kullu hizbin bima ladayhim farihoona
But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets
23:54
فَذَرۡهُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَتِهِمۡ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ
Fatharhum fee ghamratihim hatta heenin
So leave them in their error till a time
23:55
أَيَحۡسَبُونَ أَنَّمَا نُمِدُّهُم بِهِۦ مِن مَّالࣲ وَبَنِينَ
Ayahsaboona annama numidduhum bihi min malin wabaneena
Think they that in the wealth and sons wherewith We provide them
23:56
نُسَارِعُ لَهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِۚ بَل لَّا يَشۡعُرُونَ
NusariAAu lahum fee alkhayrati bal la yashAAuroona
We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not
23:57
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ هُم مِّنۡ خَشۡيَةِ رَبِّهِم مُّشۡفِقُونَ
Inna allatheena hum min khashyati rabbihim mushfiqoona
Lo! those who go in awe for fear of their Lord
23:58
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمۡ يُؤۡمِنُونَ
Waallatheena hum biayati rabbihim yuminoona
And those who believe in the revelations of their Lord
23:59
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُم بِرَبِّهِمۡ لَا يُشۡرِكُونَ
Waallatheena hum birabbihim la yushrikoona
And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord
23:60
وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡتُونَ مَآ ءَاتَواْ وَّقُلُوبُهُمۡ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمۡ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمۡ رَٰجِعُونَ
Waallatheena yutoona ma ataw waquloobuhum wajilatun annahum ila rabbihim rajiAAoona
And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord
23:61
أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يُسَٰرِعُونَ فِي ٱلۡخَيۡرَٰتِ وَهُمۡ لَهَا سَٰبِقُونَ
Olaika yusariAAoona fee alkhayrati wahum laha sabiqoona
These race for the good things, and they shall win them in the race
23:62
وَلَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفۡسًا إِلَّا وُسۡعَهَاۚ وَلَدَيۡنَا كِتَٰبࣱ يَنطِقُ بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَهُمۡ لَا يُظۡلَمُونَ
Wala nukallifu nafsan illa wusAAaha waladayna kitabun yantiqu bialhaqqi wahum la yuthlamoona
And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged
23:63
بَلۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡ فِي غَمۡرَةࣲ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا وَلَهُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلࣱ مِّن دُونِ ذَٰلِكَ هُمۡ لَهَا عَٰمِلُونَ
Bal quloobuhum fee ghamratin min hatha walahum aAAmalun min dooni thalika hum laha AAamiloona
Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing
23:64
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَخَذۡنَا مُتۡرَفِيهِم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ إِذَا هُمۡ يَجۡـَٔرُونَ
Hatta itha akhathna mutrafeehim bialAAathabi itha hum yajaroona
Till when We grasp their luxurious ones with the punishment, behold! they supplicate
23:65
لَا تَجۡـَٔرُواْ ٱلۡيَوۡمَۖ إِنَّكُم مِّنَّا لَا تُنصَرُونَ
La tajaroo alyawma innakum minna la tunsaroona
Supplicate not this day! Assuredly ye will not be helped by Us
23:66
قَدۡ كَانَتۡ ءَايَٰتِي تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡكُمۡ فَكُنتُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَٰبِكُمۡ تَنكِصُونَ
Qad kanat ayatee tutla AAalaykum fakuntum AAala aAAqabikum tankisoona
My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels
23:67
مُسۡتَكۡبِرِينَ بِهِۦ سَٰمِرࣰ ا تَهۡجُرُونَ
Mustakbireena bihi samiran tahjuroona
In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together
23:68
أَفَلَمۡ يَدَّبَّرُواْ ٱلۡقَوۡلَ أَمۡ جَآءَهُم مَّا لَمۡ يَأۡتِ ءَابَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Afalam yaddabbaroo alqawla am jaahum ma lam yati abaahumu alawwaleena
Have they not pondered the Word, or hath that come unto them which came not unto their fathers of old
23:69
أَمۡ لَمۡ يَعۡرِفُواْ رَسُولَهُمۡ فَهُمۡ لَهُۥ مُنكِرُونَ
Am lam yaAArifoo rasoolahum fahum lahu munkiroona
Or know they not their messenger, and so reject him
23:70
أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ بِهِۦ جِنَّةُۢۚ بَلۡ جَآءَهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ لِلۡحَقِّ كَٰرِهُونَ
Am yaqooloona bihi jinnatun bal jaahum bialhaqqi waaktharuhum lilhaqqi karihoona
Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth
23:71
وَلَوِ ٱتَّبَعَ ٱلۡحَقُّ أَهۡوَآءَهُمۡ لَفَسَدَتِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّۚ بَلۡ أَتَيۡنَٰهُم بِذِكۡرِهِمۡ فَهُمۡ عَن ذِكۡرِهِم مُّعۡرِضُونَ
Walawi ittabaAAa alhaqqu ahwaahum lafasadati alssamawatu waalardu waman feehinna bal ataynahum bithikrihim fahum AAan thikrihim muAAridoona
And if the Truth had followed their desires, verily the heavens and the earth and whosoever is therein had been corrupted. Nay, We have brought them their Reminder, but from their Reminder they now turn away
23:72
أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ خَرۡجࣰ ا فَخَرَاجُ رَبِّكَ خَيۡرࣱۖ وَهُوَ خَيۡرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
Am tasaluhum kharjan fakharaju rabbika khayrun wahuwa khayru alrraziqeena
Or dost thou ask of them (O Muhammad) any tribute? But the bounty of thy Lord is better, for He is Best of all who make provision
23:73
وَإِنَّكَ لَتَدۡعُوهُمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطࣲ مُّسۡتَقِيمࣲ‏
Wainnaka latadAAoohum ila siratin mustaqeemin
And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a straight path
23:74
وَإِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ عَنِ ٱلصِّرَٰطِ لَنَٰكِبُونَ
Wainna allatheena la yuminoona bialakhirati AAani alssirati lanakiboona
And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path
23:75
۞وَلَوۡ رَحِمۡنَٰهُمۡ وَكَشَفۡنَا مَا بِهِم مِّن ضُرࣲّ لَّلَجُّواْ فِي طُغۡيَٰنِهِمۡ يَعۡمَهُونَ
Walaw rahimnahum wakashafna ma bihim min durrin lalajjoo fee tughyanihim yaAAmahoona
Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy
23:76
وَلَقَدۡ أَخَذۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ فَمَا ٱسۡتَكَانُواْ لِرَبِّهِمۡ وَمَا يَتَضَرَّعُونَ
Walaqad akhathnahum bialAAathabi fama istakanoo lirabbihim wama yatadarraAAoona
Already have We grasped them with punishment, but they humble not themselves unto their Lord, nor do they pray
23:77
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَتَحۡنَا عَلَيۡهِم بَابࣰ ا ذَا عَذَابࣲ شَدِيدٍ إِذَا هُمۡ فِيهِ مُبۡلِسُونَ
Hatta itha fatahna AAalayhim baban tha AAathabin shadeedin itha hum feehi mublisoona
Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat
23:78
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَنشَأَ لَكُمُ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡأَبۡصَٰرَ وَٱلۡأَفۡـِٔدَةَۚ قَلِيلࣰ ا مَّا تَشۡكُرُونَ
Wahuwa allathee anshaa lakumu alssamAAa waalabsara waalafidata qaleelan ma tashkuroona
He it is Who hath created for you ears and eyes and hearts. Small thanks give ye
23:79
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي ذَرَأَكُمۡ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُونَ
Wahuwa allathee tharaakum fee alardi wailayhi tuhsharoona
And He it is Who hath sown you broadcast in the earth, and unto Him ye will be gathered
23:80
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُحۡيِۦ وَيُمِيتُ وَلَهُ ٱخۡتِلَٰفُ ٱلَّيۡلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
Wahuwa allathee yuhyee wayumeetu walahu ikhtilafu allayli waalnnahari afala taAAqiloona
And He it is Who giveth life and causeth death, and His is the difference of night and day. Have ye then no sense
23:81
بَلۡ قَالُواْ مِثۡلَ مَا قَالَ ٱلۡأَوَّلُونَ
Bal qaloo mithla ma qala alawwaloona
Nay, but they say the like of that which said the men of old
23:82
قَالُوٓاْ أَءِذَا مِتۡنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابࣰ ا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبۡعُوثُونَ
Qaloo aitha mitna wakunna turaban waAAithaman ainna lamabAAoothoona
They say: When we are dead and have become (mere) dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again
23:83
لَقَدۡ وُعِدۡنَا نَحۡنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا هَٰذَا مِن قَبۡلُ إِنۡ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ
Laqad wuAAidna nahnu waabaona hatha min qablu in hatha illa asateeru alawwaleena
We were already promised this, we and our forefathers. Lo! this is naught but fables of the men of old
23:84
قُل لِّمَنِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ وَمَن فِيهَآ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Qul limani alardu waman feeha in kuntum taAAlamoona
Say: Unto Whom (belongeth) the earth and whosoever is therein, if ye have knowledge
23:85
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
Sayaqooloona lillahi qul afala tathakkaroona
They will say: Unto Allah. Say: Will ye not then remember
23:86
قُلۡ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ ٱلسَّبۡعِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
Qul man rabbu alssamawati alssabAAi warabbu alAAarshi alAAatheemi
Say: Who is Lord of the seven heavens, and Lord of the Tremendous Throne
23:87
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ
Sayaqooloona lillahi qul afala tattaqoona
They will say: Unto Allah (all that belongeth). Say: Will ye not then keep duty (unto Him)
23:88
قُلۡ مَنۢ بِيَدِهِۦ مَلَكُوتُ كُلِّ شَيۡءࣲ وَهُوَ يُجِيرُ وَلَا يُجَارُ عَلَيۡهِ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ
Qul man biyadihi malakootu kulli shayin wahuwa yujeeru wala yujaru AAalayhi in kuntum taAAlamoona
Say: In Whose hand is the dominion over all things and He protecteth, while against Him there is no protection, if ye have knowledge
23:89
سَيَقُولُونَ لِلَّهِۚ قُلۡ فَأَنَّىٰ تُسۡحَرُونَ
Sayaqooloona lillahi qul faanna tusharoona
They will say: Unto Allah (all that belongeth). Say: How then are ye bewitched
23:90
بَلۡ أَتَيۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡحَقِّ وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
Bal ataynahum bialhaqqi wainnahum lakathiboona
Nay, but We have brought them the Truth, and lo! they are liars
23:91
مَا ٱتَّخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِن وَلَدࣲ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُۥ مِنۡ إِلَٰهٍۚ إِذࣰ ا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَٰهِۭ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ
Ma ittakhatha Allahu min waladin wama kana maAAahu min ilahin ithan lathahaba kullu ilahin bima khalaqa walaAAala baAAduhum AAala baAAdin subhana Allahi AAamma yasifoona
Allah hath not chosen any son, nor is there any god along with Him; else would each god have assuredly championed that which he created, and some of them would assuredly have overcome others. Glorified be Allah above all that they allege
23:92
عَٰلِمِ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ فَتَعَٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ
AAalimi alghaybi waalshshahadati fataAAala AAamma yushrikoona
Knower of the Invisible and the Visible! and Exalted be He over all that they ascribe as partners (unto Him)
23:93
قُل رَّبِّ إِمَّا تُرِيَنِّي مَا يُوعَدُونَ
Qul rabbi imma turiyannee ma yooAAadoona
Say: My Lord! If Thou shouldst show me that which they are promised
23:94
رَبِّ فَلَا تَجۡعَلۡنِي فِي ٱلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
Rabbi fala tajAAalnee fee alqawmi alththalimeena
My Lord! then set me not among the wrongdoing folk
23:95
وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّرِيَكَ مَا نَعِدُهُمۡ لَقَٰدِرُونَ
Wainna AAala an nuriyaka ma naAAiduhum laqadiroona
And verily We are Able to show thee that which We have promised them
23:96
ٱدۡفَعۡ بِٱلَّتِي هِيَ أَحۡسَنُ ٱلسَّيِّئَةَۚ نَحۡنُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا يَصِفُونَ
IdfaAA biallatee hiya ahsanu alssayyiata nahnu aAAlamu bima yasifoona
Repel evil with that which is better. We are Best Aware of that which they allege
23:97
وَقُل رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنۡ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
Waqul rabbi aAAoothu bika min hamazati alshshayateeni
And say: My Lord! I seek refuge in Thee from suggestions of the evil ones
23:98
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحۡضُرُونِ
WaaAAoothu bika rabbi an yahdurooni
And I seek refuge in Thee, my Lord, lest they be present with me
23:99
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلۡمَوۡتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرۡجِعُونِ
Hatta itha jaa ahadahumu almawtu qala rabbi irjiAAooni
Until, when death cometh unto one of them, he saith: My Lord! Send me back
23:100
لَعَلِّيٓ أَعۡمَلُ صَٰلِحࣰ ا فِيمَا تَرَكۡتُۚ كَلَّآۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَآئِلُهَاۖ وَمِن وَرَآئِهِم بَرۡزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوۡمِ يُبۡعَثُونَ
LaAAallee aAAmalu salihan feema taraktu kalla innaha kalimatun huwa qailuha wamin waraihim barzakhun ila yawmi yubAAathoona
That I may do right in that which I have left behind! But nay! It is but a word that he speaketh; and behind them is a barrier until the day when they are raised
