Ateret Zekenim on Shulchan Arukh, Orach Chayim
- 1.1
And immediately when he wakes from his sleep - and does not want to [return to] sleep, he should wash his hands even if he remains lying down (Shelah) and all the more so, he should not go 4 amot without washing:
- 1.2
Someone who rises to engage in the Torah, he will clothe himself properly to prepare for his God (Zohar parshat Noach, on perek 143) and in the Torah there is reward and good for one who wakes up to engage in the Torah that he does not come to sleep (Zohar parshat Lech Lecha) and even though one should get up quickly without being lazy as is written in the chapter [book?] of reverence and in the chapter [book?] of morals page 4[?], in any case he will stay a little and not stand up suddenly (38 Chapter one of Berachot [?,ל"ח פ"א דברכות]) and it's written Seder HaYom (order of the day) when one gets up he will immediately say "I give thanks before you the living and continuing king that restored my soul to me in compassion, great is your trust," and there is no need to wash his hands for this, even though his hands are dirty, because he does not say any name of G-d. And after the blessing on the washing of the hands say the 42 letter name from the acronym of Ana Bekoach.
